Vash the Stampede
ABOUT You know that meme of "looks like a cinnamon roll/could actually kill you" vs "looks like they could kill you/actually a cinnamon roll"? Vash is the fusion of these extremes into "looks like a cinnamon roll, could easily kill you, is a cinnamon roll anyway". He's a fun contradiction of expert gunslinger who is nonetheless an extreme pacifist, with a mountain of survivor guilt for a spaceship crash his brother caused 150 years ago that stranded all the humans on an nigh-unlivable desert planet, so he is going to be just, Incredibly Normal about the situation Sunspire's people are going through.
HOW CAN THEY HELP? As someone who has been wandering around a desert planet for a century and a half, Vash has a number of survival skills he can help pass onto others who aren't as well suited to the climate/environment! For instance, how to construct a makeshift shelter, start a fire, keep from dehydrating in the heat, protect yourself from sandstorms, etc. He is also an incredibly skilled gunslinger for situations involving monster danger, though he will also be the first to advocate for solutions that don't require violence/putting people at risk when they're remotely possible.
GOALS I'd love for Vash to really get entrenched in the community-building and explorations but also have to eventually cope with the striking similarity of the situation in Sunspire to the one he left behind on his planet and his lingering guilt and trauma about it all. He would likely fall into the more unfortunate side of his altruism pretty quickly in a setting where scarcity's a huge issue, such as giving away all his caps to people in need (i.e. everyone) and oops suddenly broke and it'd be great to see how that plays out in a situation where there's no particular need to be constantly on the move like in canon
